Zhu Liqing, Ph.D. in Landscape Architecture, is an Associate Professor. He was a visiting scholar at Cornell University and conducted research on golf course management and design in the UK with support from R&A.His primary teaching portfolio comprises the following courses: AI-driven Landscape Engineering Design, Landscape Cognition and Representation, Landscape Engineering, and Landform & Hydrological Design. He is also the chief editor of the textbook Beginning Landscape Design, whose second edition has been retitled Landscape Architecture Design Methodology And Graphics. His research foci converge on sustainable landscape design, climate-change adaptation and hazard mitigation, and AI-augmented landscape engineering.

1. AI-driven Landscape Engineering Design (Graduate restricted elective, 64 contact hours, 4 ECTS) This seminar-studio hybrid interrogates the epistemic and instrumental potentials of artificial intelligence in landscape-architectural praxis. Core modules encompass parametric modelling, agent-based simulation, and text-/image-to-3D generative pipelines. Through theoretically informed lectures coupled with collaborative micro-landscape studios, students cultivate algorithmic literacy and AI-augmented design agency while refining capacities for interdisciplinary teamwork and cross-cultural knowledge negotiation.
2. Landscape Engineering (Undergraduate core, 64 contact hours, 4 ECTS) Grounded in the techno-ecological realities of landscape construction, the course integrates foundational theory with situated praxis across landform manipulation and hydrological performance, paving technologies and material science, and planting design inclusive of therapeutic horticulture. Heuristic pedagogy, studio exercises, and site-based practicums collectively foster professional competence, systems-oriented engineering cognition, and the synthetic capacity to mediate between conceptual constructs and material contingencies.
3. Landscape Cognition and Representation (Undergraduate foundation) This foundational course establishes an epistemic scaffold for comprehending and communicating landscape-architectural design. It traverses historiographical and theoretical genealogies, procedural methodologies, and representational grammars operative within the discipline. Students acquire competencies in site reading and strategic planning, phytotechnical selection and assemblage, and the orchestration of hand-drawing, physical modelling, and digital media as co-constitutive representational ecologies.

1. Sustainable Landscape Design: He is committed to researching how to consider sustainable factors such as environmental protection, resource utilization, and social benefits when designing landscapes, in order to achieve sustainable development in ecology, economy, and society.
2. Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Response: He focuses on the impact of climate change on landscape architecture and studies how to adapt to climate change and mitigate the effects of natural disasters, particularly floods, through design and planning.
3. Digital Landscape and Intelligent Construction: He is very interested in the application of digital technologies in landscape design and management, including the use of parametric design and artificial intelligence. He believes that digital technologies can bring more innovation and efficiency to landscape design, management, and maintenance.

The faculty has extensive practical experience, having won 1 IFLA (International Federation of Landscape Architects) Excellence Award, 6 IFLA Honorary Awards, and 1 BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries) UK National Landscape Award as the first author internationally. In China, he has received the first prize in the graduate student category of the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture, as well as the second and third prizes for scientific and technological achievements (planning and design) from the same organization. He has also won 10 third prizes from the Shanghai Survey and Design Association and the Shanghai Society of Landscape Architecture. The following is a list of award-winning design practices in recent years:
