This May, Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s School of Design hosted visiting delegations from design schools from top universities in India, Australia, and the United States. These groups have included heads of architecture and design schools including the Center for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University in Ahmedabad, India, the University of New South Wales in Australia, and the University of Michigan’s Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning in the United States among others.

An agreement was signed with the Michigan delegation, and program initiatives were advanced with the groups fromIndia and Australia.
A resolution for future collaboration between the U.S.'s University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and the school of design was hammered out this past May.
In addition to such official delegations, particular exchange proceeded at a fast clip. To name only a few examples, these included the completion of a semester of design work completed by undergraduates in collaboration with the Canadian Umbra Company, and a visiting lecture on implications for design presented by global warming, presented by Tsubasa Okaze of the Tokyo Institute for Technology. The chair of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) James Hayter also presented on the design of urban waterfronts. The dean of McGill University's department of architecture Martin Bressani and professor Peter Guo-hua Fu visted as well as Manuel Veiga Aldemira, the chief operating officer of Jacob Jensen Design. Professor Zuo Wangda from the University of Colorodo Boulder also gave a guest lecture on sustainable architecture and technology.
