Abstract

The theme of “Renewal: A Symbiotic Narrative” curated by RUAN Xing and his team will serve as the exhibition program of the China National Pavilion.With the theme of “Renewal: A Symbiotic Narrative”, the exhibition plan of the China National Pavilion will be developed around three chapters: “DENSITY wonder Portraits of Plurality”, “LIVEABILITY renewal Stories of Shanghai”and “SYMBIOSIS future Rejuvenation”.

The Biennale Architettura 2023 will be held from Saturday 20 May to Sunday 26 November (pre-opening 18 and 19 May), curated by academic, educator and best-selling novelist Lesley Lokko, who has commented: “Architects have a unique opportunity to put forward ambitious and creative ideas that help us imagine a more equitable and optimistic future in common”.

The Venice Biennale originated in 1895 and is one of the most influential contemporary art exhibitions in the world today. The Biennale Architettura will also feature, as usual, the National Participations, with each country presenting its own exhibition in the Pavilions of the Giardini and the Arsenale, and in the historic center of Venice. This edition will once again include a selection of Collateral Events organized by international institutions, which will hold their own shows and initiatives in Venice. The China National Pavilion exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China.
