​School of Design students win the Gold Award @ the 8th College Students “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

​From November 10th to 13th, 2022, the 8th College Students “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was sponsored by the Ministry of Education and organized by Chongqing University. The final was held in the form of an online roadshow. A joint research and development project, “Metacube,” conducted by the School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering  and the School of Design from Shanghai Jiao Tong University won the National Gold Award.

Metacube is committed to developing the underlying engine technology for metaverse 3D creation based on the user publishing platform UGC and the AI publishing platform AIGC. It collaborates  with the graphics engine company Grainworld Technology and the chip company Pnoflex to create the world's first metacube engine based on dynamic neural chips through virtual mapping. Based on the three core technologies of high-precision real-time reconstruction, fully automatic real-time deformation and end-side real-time interaction, the metacube engine focuses on the next-generation consumer-grade USD 3D format, innovatively integrating industry resources, adopting a co-build and co-creation approach, and jointly developing a most simplified UGC platform through the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering and the School of Design to incubate Shanghai Jiao Tong University's metaverse -- Ling Jing Space-time.
