​School of Design Continues to Perform Strongly in Highly Regarded University Rankings

In the newly revealed 2022 QS World University Rankings, Shanghai Jiao Tong University maintained its record of being ranked in the top 50 universities globally every year since the QS rankings were established in 2004. In terms of subject rankings, Architecture & the Built Environment, together with Art & Design, both placed in the top 100 as well.

The Times Higher Education released the third edition of the China Subject Ratings in May. Based on the subject classification system of China’s Ministry of Education, the Times Higher Education China Subject Ratings provide mainland Chinese universities with global insights at the subject level, as well as the opportunity to compare and demonstrate academic strength with universities in other regions of the world. The subject of Landscape Architecture and Design at Shanghai Jiao Tong University honorably was rated A+ among 91 mainland Chinese universities and 1,543 other global universities, and was followed by the subject of Architecture which received an A rating.

Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued the “Notice on the Announcement of the List of National and Provincial First-Class Subject Construction Sites in 2021.” Four undergraduate subjects, Architecture, Industrial Design, Visual Communication and Landscape Architecture in Shanghai Jiao Tong School of Design were listed among the 17 national-level first-class undergraduate subject construction sites in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which also showing obvious advantages in domestic design education disciplines.
