LAI Dayi Featured in Wiley Research Headlines
LAI Daiyi, Associate Professor from Shanghai Jiao Tong School of Design has published his research on “Evaluation of SARS-COV-2 transmission and infection in airliner cabins” with Indoor Air, and being featured as Wiley Publishing headlines from 1,600 of its journals.
The study simulated the dispersion of droplets of different sizes generated by coughing, talking, and breathing activities in an airline cabin by an infected person. SARS-CoV-2 virus contained in such droplets traveled with the cabin air distribution and was inhaled by other passengers. The researchers counted the number of viral copies inhaled by each passenger to determine infection. The method predicted the infected/uninfected cases on the flight with reasonable accuracy.
