On the morning of March 27, 2019, Mr. Marek Ciesielczuk, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Shanghai, was invited to visit the School of Design of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Dean of the School of Design, Ruan Xing, Deputy Dean Che Shengquan, and Director of the International Cooperation Office, Du Shuai, participated in the meeting.

Professor Ruan Xing warmly welcomed Mr. Marek Ciesielczuk's visit. He introduced to Mr. Marek Ciesielczuk the history and current world rank of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He then introduced the development of the School of Design. Finally, Ruan Xing introduced the future strategic plan of the School of Design and the upcoming International Design Institute project.

Professor Ruan Xing said that the School of Design hopes to cooperate with relevant universities in Poland. Mutual understanding can be enhanced by planning exhibitions between cities in Shanghai and Poland, hoping to get support and help from Poland in overseas venues. Subsequently, Ruan Xing welcomed the arrival of Polish students and scholars to the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Design for exchange visits.

Professor Che Shengquan reviewed the cooperation between Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Central and Eastern European countries three years ago and briefly introduced the Bulgarian Center. Che Shengquan praised the architecture of Polish universities as an important part of European architecture. He believes that the School of Design can establish more cooperate opportunities with Polish universities in education, academic research, and international design master programs.

Mr. Marek Ciesielczuk said that he will actively prepare to share information with the School of Design as far as practicable, to help and promote the visit of Shanghai Jiao Tong University to Poland, and to promote cooperation with the design institute's large-scale exhibition projects within the limits of his ability. He expressed his appreciation and affirmation for "Chinese Design·China Construction".

Professor Ruan Xing said that it is a good time for the Chinese government to strengthen cooperation with the Polish government. The School of Design of Shanghai Jiao Tong University also hopes to further cooperate with Polish universities in this good background.

Du Shuai, Director of the International Cooperation Office of the School of Design, introduced the summer school and exchange program of the School of Design. Mr. Marek Ciesielczuk asked about the application requirements.

At the end of the talks, Professor Ruan Xing once again welcomed and thanked Mr. Marek Ciesielczuk for his visit, which was considered to be a good start for the cooperation between the School of Design, Central and Eastern European countries and universities. Mr. Marek Ciesielczuk also said that he will recommend Shanghai Jiao Tong University to Polish students and scholars, and will provide necessary assistance and support for the cooperation between the School of Design and Polish universities.

After the meeting, Mr. Marek Ciesielczuk and the participants of the Design Institute visited the campus and had a working lunch.
