Bio

Dr. Lai currently works at Department of Architecture in Shanghai Jiao Tong University as an Associate Professor and Associate Head. He earned his Ph.D. degree from Purdue at 2017, and is the recipient of “Chen Guang Scholar” from Shanghai Municipal Education Commission in 2018 and “Sailing Program” from Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality in 2019.

Dr. Lai’s major research focus is the built thermal environment, thermal comfort, and occupant behavior. Recently, he also conducted researches on virus transmission in aircraft cabin and efficient ventilation in industrial building.

Dr. Lai has published over 40 journal papers, two of which are highly cited in ESI database. His work received over 1300 citations in Google Scholar (H index =17). He has served in the editorial board for Sustainability and Building Simulation and is a reviewer for more than 20 journals such as Building and Environment. His study concerning SARS-CoV-2 in enclosed space was covered in Wiley Research Headline and was reported by media such as Science DailyDailymailEureAlertNews wiseArchyde etc.
