The 6th Young Scholars International Forum on Design Innovation Shanghai Jiao Tong School of Design

Introduction

Design education in the built environment at Shanghai Jiao Tong University can be traced back to the early twentieth century. In December 2017, the University grouped the design related disciplines scattered in different schools, and amalgamated three departments, Architecture, Design and Landscape Architecture, to establish the new School of Design. 

Over the past 30 years, the design disciplines at Shanghai Jiao Tong have pursued a harmonious communion of humanities, arts, science and technology for educating elite talents in the built environment, art and design fields. The programs have been distinguished by attributes of social conscience, leadership, cosmopolitanism and truth-seeking spirit. Their achievements in education, research, practice, social service and international reach have earned worldwide recognition.Furthermore, it was counted among the top 50 in the world in 2019 and climbed to the top again in 2023 to rank 39th in the world.In recent years, in the QS World University Subject Rankings, the school ranked among the top domestic and foreign universities in the“Architecture and the Built Environment" . In recent years, in the "Art and Design" subject, it has continuously ranked among the top 50-100 universities in the world. In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023, Design and Architecture subjects were rated A+, and Landscape Architecture was rated A. In the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), the Industrial Design ranked first in the country.

The School of Design currently has more than 150 academics and professional staff and more than 900 students. Most academic staff have gained their PhDs and work experience from universities of international standing. In the next 3 to 5 years, we will substantially enhance the research and teaching capacity of the school with new recruits from around the world.

Recruitment Form and Time

The Young Scholars Forum is expected to be held in late November 2023. We will invite outstanding young scholars for academic exchanges according to the application situation.

Academic themes are grouped under the School’s three disciplines, namely Design, Architecture, and Landscape Architecture. The general academic themes (though not exclusive) are:

Position Descriptions

Tenure-track Associate Professor

1. Obtained a Ph.D. degree in relevant fields or related disciplines from first-class universities or disciplines for at least three years in general ;

2. Have research or practice ability in related fields, have made outstanding academic achievements, show strong academic ability and good career development prospects.

3. Normally do not exceed 40 years old.

Tenure-track Assistant Professor

1. Obtained or close to completion of a Ph.D. degree from first-class universities worldwide.

2. Have the ability to carry out academic research independently, and show good scientific literacy and academic development potential.

3.  Normally do not exceed 35 years old.

学院概况

上海交通大学最早培养人居环境方面的设计人才可追溯于20世纪初上海高等实业学堂。2017年12月学校整合全校设计类学科的优质资源，将建筑系、设计系及风景园林系重组成立了设计学院。

经过近30年来的学科建设，上海交通大学设计类学科着力于交融人文艺术与科学技术，旨在培养理论与实践相结合的精英人才，具有家国情怀、领袖才能，国际视野、求真精神。于人才培养、研究、社会服务、实践与国际化等领域均取得瞩目成就，在近年英国QS世界大学学科排名上，“建筑与人居环境学科”（Architecture and the Built Environment) 在国内外高校中排名前列，于2019年进入全球50强，2023年再攀高峰上升到全球第39位。“艺术与设计学科”（Art and Design) 近年连续进入全球50-100强。2023泰晤土高等教育中国学科评级中，设计学、建筑学获评A+等级，风景园林学获评A等级。在软科中国大学专业排名中，工业设计专业位列全国第一。

设计学院目前拥有150多位教职员工，900余名学生。大部分教师拥有国际一流大学博士及工作访学阅历。在今后3到5年内，我们将大幅增强研究与教学力度，诚邀海内外英才加盟。

招聘岗位

教轨副教授

1、一般应具有世界一流大学或学科的博士学位满三年；

2、在相关领域具有研究或实践能力，已取得较为突出的学术成果，展现出较强的学术能力和良好的职业发展前景；

3、年龄一般不超过40周岁。

​

助理教授

1、具有世界一流大学或学科的博士学位（或即将取得博士学位）；

2、具备独立开展学术研究的能力，展现出很好的科学素养和学术发展潜力；

3、年龄一般不超过35周岁。
