对标国际一流，培养高质量学科人才，上海交通大学设计学院风景园林专业硕士（国际）项目将于2021年正式启动招生。
Benchmarking the international running system of Design subject and cultivating high-quality disciplinary talents. The Master of Landscape Architecture (International) program 不by the School of Design, Shanghai Jiao Tong University will officially start enrolment in 2021.

Program Features
为应对全球气候变化和人类发展共同关注的健康安全、生态文明、文化服务、城乡共生等人居环境问题，围绕国际前沿领域与发展趋势，依托上海交通大学国际化办学优势和特色，上海交通大学设计学院开办“风景园林专业硕士（国际）项目(Master of Landscape Architecture(International), MLA)”。本项目旨在综合运用科学、技术和艺术的手段，以协调人与自然之间的关系为宗旨，培养从事风景园林规划、设计、建设和管理等领域的复合型、创新性、国际化的高层次专门人才。2021年首批招生，单独编班。
In response to global climate change and the common concerns of human development about health and safety, ecological civilization, cultural services, urban and rural symbiosis，and other human settlement environment issues, by focusing on the international frontier and development trends, Shanghai Jiao Tong School of Design is now launching an English language based full-time master’s degree program named Master of Landscape Architecture (International) (MLA), relying on the advantages and characteristics of the university’s international educational environment. the program aims to achieve harmony between human and nature with a comprehensive application of scientific, technical and artistic approaches, Students who graduate from this program will be inter-disciplinary, creative, and internationalized high-quality talents engage in the professional field of landscape architecture planning, design, construction and management. 2021 will be the first year to start MLA program with taking one class.
MLA项目旨在让国内外学子在上海交通大学接受到世界一流、中国特色的风景园林教育，培养风景园林的设计大师与行业精英，其办学特色包括：
The MLA program aims to enable students both from home and abroad to receive a world-class landscape architecture education with Chinese characteristics and to cultivate leaders in the field of design without travelling abroad. It features the following elements:
1. 综合创新的课程体系Comprehensive and innovative curriculum system
依托设计学院已有的国际化办学基础，对标国际一流风景园林学、建筑学与设计学人才培养模式，突出可持续生态设计和前沿智能设计的特色，构筑综合性、前沿性的课程体系，实现世界一流的国际化风景园林学位硕士研究生教育。
The School of Design is using the foundation built on the basis of its existing well-established cooperation with several first-class landscape architecture, architecture and design disciplines worldwide to set up a full-time master's degree program taught in English and with an advanced and comprehensive curriculum highlighting the features of sustainable ecological design and cutting-edge intelligent design. The ultimate goal of the initiative is to establish world-class international landscape architecture education.
2. 优越的学术育人条件 Superior academic & education resources
利用我校“创新设计”一流学科的发展条件，对接国家重大战略和上海大都市的特色需求，风景园林系以“长三角地区”、“高密度城镇”的生态景观融合创新为重点问题，形成江南园林历史遗产保护与利用、风景园林设计与技术、都市型风景园林植物与应用、大地景观规划与生态修复等重点学术方向，为学术育人提供了优越的条件。
Taking the advantages of the first-class “Innovative Design” discipline in SJTU, docking national major strategies and unique requirements of Shanghai metropolis, our program aims to address this key issue: the ecological landscape integration innovation of “high-density cities and towns” in the “Yangtze River Delta”. To achieve this goal, several key research directions, including Jiangnan landscape heritage protection and utilization, landscape architecture design and technology, urban landscape plants and application, earthscape planning and ecological restoration, have been well established. This provides superior conditions for academic education.
3. 一流的师资队伍 First-class faculty
聘请哈佛大学、康奈尔大学等海外一流高校的师资与国际著名设计师，外聘师资占比近50%。以一流的师资，保障本项目的国际化水平和特色化探索。
Professors and lecturers from Harvard University, Cornell University, and other world-leading universities and famous designers at home and abroad will be invited as course tutors. Semester-based external staffs from other world-class universities will account for nearly 50% of the total faculty. This guarantees the international first-class standards and exploration of characteristics that define the school and the program.
4. 国内外同步招生 Simultaneous enrollment at home and abroad
项目进入成熟期后，国内外生源比为1:1，实现国际前沿设计思想的充分交流与碰撞。
The program will consist of simultaneous enrollment both at home and abroad. The ratio of students (at home and abroad) will approach 1:1 as the program matures. This will allow for fully realized international exchange and synergy of design ideas.
5. 跨文化合作与实践能力的培养 The cultivation of cross-cultural cooperation and practical abilities
为学生提供多元的海内外高校联合培养与学术交流交换项目，提升跨文化合作能力；通过与国内外著名公司、机构合作办学，为学生提供丰富的实习和参与大中型设计项目的机会；每年积极组织学生参与国际竞赛，推行以赛促学，强化复合应用与创新实践能力的培养。
Various opportunities for study and exchange abroad will be provided in collaboration with cooperating universities. This will allow students to promote their intercultural cooperation abilities. Through cooperation with top-leading companies and institutions at home and abroad, students can receive both abundant internship opportunities and opportunities to participate in large and medium-sized practical projects. This program will also promote learning through competition by accelerating active participation in international landscape design competitions every year. These activities will further strengthen the students' comprehensive applicable and innovative practical abilities.
办学优势

我校风景园林专业创建1960年代，是全国最早开设园林专业的高校之一。本学科于1995年被批准为上海市重点学科；2001年设立硕士点；2005年被教育部确定为风景园林专业硕士学位首批培养单位，并先后与我校资源与环境、植物生物技术学科共建生态学和园艺学一级博士点；2007年教育部第二轮本科专业评估全国综合排名第四；2011年设立“风景园林学”一级学科硕士点；2015年设立“设计科学与工程”交叉学科博士点。2017年风景园林学成为上海交大国家“双一流”自主建设学科——创新设计学科群的重要学科，2019年设立“设计学”博士点。
“Landscape Architecture (LA)” in SJTU, established in 1960s, is one of the very first program in “Landscape Architecture (LA)” in China. LA program in SJTU was approved as key discipline in Shanghai in 1995. The department then established master program in 2001. The program was ranked the 4th in the second round evaluation (undergraduate level) of the Ministry of Education in 2002. It was identified as one of the first batch of institutions that are authorized to grant master degree in LA in 2005. The program was identified as first level discipline to grant master degree in “Landscape Architecture” in 2011, and grant doctoral degree in “Design Science and Engineering” in 2015. In 2017, LA has become one of the national Double First-class Independent Construction disciplines in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which is an important subject of innovative design disciplinary cluster. In 2019, the doctoral program in design was established.
本学科主要研究方向有4个：1. 风景园林规划与设计；2. 风景园林历史与理论；3. 园林植物资源与应用；4. 地景规划与生态修复。2015年获批“教育部首批《卓越农林人才（风景园林）教育培养计划改革试点项目》”与“首批全国示范性风景园林专业学位研究生联合培养基地”。相关研究平台有：风景园林设计研究所、可持续生态设计中心、芳香植物研发中心、建筑历史文化与遗产保护研究中心、国家创新创业平台、上海城市植物资源开发应用工程技术研究中心、国家林业局上海城市森林生态系统定位观测站、农业部都市农业重点实验室。
LA consists of four academic research areas: Landscape Planning and Design, History and Theory of Landscape, Landscape Plant Resource and Application, Landscape Planning and Ecology Restoration. In 2015, the program was authorized to build “The first batch of outstanding talent Agriculture and Forestry (Landscape Architecture) Education Training Program (Composite Application Type)” and “The first batch of exemplary bases for graduate program in landscape architecture”. We also build national and provincial research platforms: Institute of Landscape Architecture Design, Center for Sustainable Ecological Design, Aroma Plant Research & Development Center, Research Center for Architectural History, Culture and Heritage Conservation, National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Platform, Shanghai Urban Development and Application of Plant Resources Engineering Research Center, Shanghai Urban Forest Ecosystem Stations (State Forestry Administration), Key Laboratory of Urban Agriculture (Ministry of Agriculture).

The School of Design relies on the strong foundation of engineering subjects in Shanghai Jiao Tong University and aims to represent the forefront of academic standards. The development of LA is based on an international and cross-disciplinary background. The school has earned first and second place prizes for its teaching achievements in Shanghai multiple times. Many of our students were awarded the IFLA (International Federation of Landscape Architects），BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries)，and other internationally renowned landscape design prizes.

Global breadth is one of the essential characteristics in tertiary education. School of Design has established mature collaborative relationships with many world-renowned institutions such as Harvard University, MIT, University of Michigan, Cornell University, McGill University (Canada), University of New South Wales(Australia), Politecnico di Milano(Italy), KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands) and the National University of Singapore etc. We also have stable cooperative foundations with universities and research institutions from “One Belt One Road” countries, as well as professional bonds in personnel training, scientific research, and overseas joint research centers.
学制学费
Tuition fees
根据国家财政部、教育部的相关文件精神，我校按照全国研究生招生计划招收的硕士生均需缴纳学费。具体收费标准可查询我校财计处网(www.jdcw.sjtu.edu.cn)上的公示学费项目。MLA学费是4.8万元/年，学制为2.5年，合计12万元。
According to the spirit of the relevant documents of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education, the master's students enrolled in accordance with the National Graduate Admissions Program are required to pay tuition fees. For specific standards, please refer to the public tuition fee program on the website of our school's financial planning department (www.jdcw.sjtu.edu.cn).The tuition for the MLA program is RMB 48,000/year, and the length of the program is 2.5 years, therefore amounting to RMB 120,000 in total.
