​研讨会预告 | 亚洲公共住房的未来：国际视野与经验

​

为深入探讨亚洲地区公共住房的历史经验与未来方向，推动跨学科对话与国际合作，上海交通大学设计学院将于2025年7月16日举办“亚洲公共住房的未来：国际视野与经验”研讨会。本次研讨会汇聚来自韩国与中国的知名学者，围绕集体住宅的空间创新、制度演变与可持续性进行深度交流。会议将通过首尔、上海等地的典型案例，反思快速城市化背景下公共住房的社会意义与未来可能性。

To advance interdisciplinary dialogue and international collaboration, the School of Design at Shanghai Jiao Tong University is pleased to announce the Symposium on Collective Housing Futures in Asia, to be held on July 16, 2025. This symposium will bring together distinguished scholars from Korea and China to critically examine the institutional evolution, spatial innovation, and sustainability of collective housing. Drawing on emblematic cases from Seoul, Shanghai, and other cities, the event will reflect on the societal significance and future prospects of public housing in the context of rapid urban transformation.

上海在20世纪初迅速发展成为一个国际化大都市，并形成了容纳多元居民的居住街区空间模式。这一“上海模式”对当前城市包容多元生活方式，维持城市独特性有着重要启示。本次演讲将介绍上海模式的形成过程、主要特征以及在中国进行当代转译的尝试。

In the early 20th century, Shanghai rapidly developed into an international metropolis, giving rise to a distinctive spatial configuration for residential blocks that accommodated diverse inhabitants. This "Shanghai Pattern" offers significant insights for contemporary cities seeking to embrace diverse ways of living and sustain the city's uniqueness. This presentation will examine the formation process and key characteristics of the Shanghai Pattern, along with ongoing efforts to reinterpret it within the contemporary Chinese context.

Housing Challenges of Shanghai's Early-Career Population

概  要  Abstract

上海是全球最具代表性的高密度城市之一。伴随过去30余年的快速城市化，高昂的房价使得青年安居成为普遍难题，这不仅影响人才吸引力，也制约城市的可持续发展。对此，上海市已推出多项公共住宅计划以应对这一问题。

Shanghai stands as one of the world's most representative high-density cities. Alongside its rapid urbanization over the past three decades, soaring real estate prices have made housing affordability a widespread issue for young residents, threatening both talent retention and sustainable urban development. In response, Shanghai has implemented various public housing initiatives to address this challenge.

This presentation draws upon two studies from Shanghai Jiao Tong University's March project to examine the living conditions of early-career population (aged 22-35) in Shanghai. It explores their current lifestyles, housing choices, and their perspectives on future residential spaces.

Jin Baek（白鎭）教授先后获得首尔大学理学学士、理学硕士，耶鲁大学建筑学硕士，以及宾夕法尼亚大学建筑历史与理论博士学位。他的研究重点包括基于现象学的建筑与城市解读、环境伦理以及跨文化议题。著有《虚无：安藤忠雄的基督教圣所》（Routledge, 2009）和《作为气候伦理的建筑》（Routledge, 2016）。其新书《正义与城市》（韩文版）已完成，将于2025年7月出版。

Prof. Jin Baek acquired a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Seoul National University, a Master of Architecture from Yale University, and completed his Ph.D. in the history and theory of architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on phenomenology-based interpretation of architecture and urbanism, environmental ethics, and cross-cultural issues. He is the author of Nothingness: Tadao Ando's Christian Sacred Space (Routledge, 2009) and Architecture as the Ethics of Climate (Routledge, 2016). His book entitled Justice and the City (in Korean) has been completed and will be published in July 2025.
